Street Photography

Whilst on our gallery visits in Birmingham and Wolverhampton we were set a project around Street Photography, we were given the a quote 'If you can smell the street by looking at the photo, its a street photograph.' - Bruce Gilden In response to this i took several images throughout the day but the ones i felt fitted that description are these that i took in Birmingham New Street Station whilst waiting for a train.

I have no idea who the person is in the picture but i find the way he is silhouetted due to the sun coming in from the open end of the station. I famed him just off centre with the tracks leading off into the distance to allow the viewer to determine the story behind the subject in the photograph. Is he waiting for the train or waiting for someone on the train?

From the three images above i decided on the first one but chose to crop and slightly darken the image i chose as my final one for this project. I feel it gives a much more focused view on the subject and cuts out the unneeded elements in this case excess floor and ceiling.
